I exist in the shadows.
I am seen only in the reflective glare of others’ scrutiny. Owen's sneer reveals the tea boy, Jack’s part-time shag. Jack's blue eyes pierce me naked and undone, but only the surface, not the real me.
Gwen's sympathetic smile exposes my dread and fear. Tosh, her glance barely registers me at all.
No one really sees me. Even when I look at my reflection in the shiny surface of Lisa’s metallic skin, I see a shadow of a man half alive and half dead. I exist in the shadows waiting for it all to end.
