Torchwood Spooky Specter Contest Winners & Redisourcolour voting
You may recall that I posted a story around Halloween and had a little contest to see who could identify which monsters/sightings were 'real' and which I made up. Five Spooky Specters That Scared Torchwood, Five that Didn’t, And One That Only Frightened Owen.
Turns out you all tried to do much more than you needed to. You are all a bunch of overachievers!
So here's the scoop: Stories 2,3, & 4 are based at least in part on legends/myths/sightings.
All information was sourced from ParanormalDatabase.com -Wales
Story 1: Vampires in Cardiff.
No vampire sightings reported in Cardiff. I made this up.
Story 2: Girl at Oystermouth Castle: -
White Lady
Location: Swansea Bay (West Glamorgan) - Oystermouth Castle
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: The castle grounds are haunted by this crying phantom with a bloody back.
(OK, I left out the bloody back part).
Story 3: Monster in the River Taft
Water Monster
Location: Cardiff (South Glamorgan) - River Taff
Type: Cryptozoology
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: A water monster was once thought to live here, a reappearing whirlpool forming as it fed from a drowned body.
Story 4: Ghost at the National Museum of Wales
Dunbar Smith
Location: Cardiff (South Glamorgan) - National Museum of Wales
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: The ghost of Dunbar Smith was brought back to earth after his ashes were removed to make room for a public toilet - Smith was the architect of the building.
Story 5: Giant spiders:
Sorry, no giant spiders reported either.
Story 6: Little Werewolves: Mica and David are little monsters, but no points here. Naked Hide & Seek - perhaps Jack's been been playing hide and seek with Ianto in Gloddaeth Woods, LOL.
Naked Man
Location: Llandudno (Clwyd) - Gloddaeth Woods
Type: Haunting Manifestation
Date / Time: Unknown
Further Comments: A poacher was once trapped in the branches of a tree all night, after a strange naked man with burning eyes materialised and stood at the base of the trunk, preventing the poacher's escape. As the sun rose the following morning, the entity vanished.
AND THE WINNER IS:
Here's the hard part - all of you identified some of these correctly, but didn't necessarily tie them to the location (e.g. vampires are legends, but as far as I could find, there are no legends of vampires in Cardiff. And think it's largely my fault because I didn't explain things clearly. So in fairness, I couldn't choose. So....
Now, coincidentally, voting for this round of Redisourcolour has just started. http://redisourcolor.livejournal.com/62522.html
I'm starting on my traditional Torchwood Team Thanksgiving Crackfic this weekend -
Look out 'cause it's Owen's Turn to Cook!

YOU'RE ALL GETTING V-GIFTS!
Now, coincidentally, voting for this round of Redisourcolour has just started. http://redisourcolor.livejournal.com/62522.html
And it would be nice if you all voted. But this is not a bribe, heavens no! (Hey just because I'm from Chicago, does not mean I'll pay for votes). Just read the two stories (yeah only two of us) and vote. And some of you (you know who you are, please consider writing a story for the next round - we need more writers!!)
