Just an FYI, There are at least three major underground cities made for protecting key people (Pres., Congress, Head Military, etc.) somewhere in the US. They are designed to hold nearly a million people and are self contained and supplied to maintain for up to ten years. I'm sure all the Mucky-mucks where safe.

My Hubby was in the Navy, but his info is twenty years old, so who knows what they have now. I do know there is an underground city under Disney World in FL. And it's run on a Nuculear power plant underground. My husband took a tour when he was in nuck training.
