I'm a little uncertain myself, LOL. The whole concept of heaven or an after life is such a personal thing that I wanted to leave it open for people to be able to interpret in many ways. Ianto would seem to have gone to some type of heaven, but we don't know if it was 'real' or his imagination.
Jack always said that it was dark when he died. So is he seeing his life passing before his eyes? Don't know. Is this a case of getting what you believe? Again, don't know.
And seeing the four men waiting for him (and I would think that Geoffrey would have to be there somewhere) is this heaven? Don't know. And how exactly would you sort out the pairings in an afterlife. Would Ianto spend Mondays and Wednesdays with Jack, Tuesdays and Thursdays with Aaron, and the weekends with John? Personally, I think you'd just have to have one ongoing orgy to keep everyone happy.
Or...since we aren't at the end of time, does Jack's soul go into some type of stasis? suspended animation? purgatory?
And where's Shayna? If there's a heaven my cats better be there, or I'm going to be pissed.
And no, I'm not writing any orgies in heaven fics. Ianto will not be saying, 'lots of things you can do with a harp.'
I was just surprised that no one questioned whether Jack was reunited with Ianto or not.
