I'm totally tickled that 'Ianto's Journey' won a Wicked Award for Best Series (non-Whedon fandom).

And thank you to [livejournal.com profile] evalentine99 for my Gold Star!  Guess whose just finished series is getting nominated for Best Series in the next round?  Her
The Man in Gray Series )
of course. If you haven't read this yet - you really should - it made me laugh and cry and so glad I didn't give up on the Torchwood fandom after MD. Great stories are still being written and this one is brilliant!

And
Blocking Your Own Shot )
by Arnica was runner up for Best Original Plot (Window of Opportunity). It's a fantastic story - unlike any other post-Cyberwoman story I've ever read. If you like a self-destructive yet kick-ass Ianto, lots of sexy-sex and drugs and mayhem - this has got it all.

Writing
I discovered something pretty nice tonight. I was over on my Media Fire account (where I have story pdfs) and Ianto's Journey has 1,386 downloads. The last download was December 27th of 2011.  I never would have imagined that people would still be reading the story. (Treachery is running a very distant second place with 328 downloads).  Kind of makes me want to write something BIG, because its been drabble city around here lately.

Truth is, I have been writing more than just drabbles! I signed up for Classic TW Big Bang - though it's only a mini-bang for me. Still at 9,000+ words, its been a bit of work. First draft is finished, but it needs some polish and tightening up and a little fact checking. Stories won't be posting until mid/end of February, which will work out fine.  I'd like to get something written for Redisourcolor - so I'm selfishly hoping there aren't enough posts for voting next Thursday because making that deadline will be nearly impossible.

Ida
Ida has been upset with me lately. We had a bit of an ear cleaning disaster http://cathealth.livejournal.com/2364801.html  last week and then she found out I was on some other cat communities bragging about Teddy being a very smart cat.  So she made me promise to show you that she is also a smart kitty.

Ida always helps me with the Sunday crossword puzzle - mostly by laying on it and trying to chew on the pen. But sometimes she works on the easy one all by herself.

Its done. And its also has my IJ Universe schmoop bingo stories at the end.

I'll be posting it around the comms later - just wanted to get this up before I forgot where I stashed it.

Family Medical Stuff - The Good! (Or in the immortal words of the Doctor - Everyone lives!)
First things first:  My sister-in-law and my father both had cancer scares over the last few weeks. The good news, my SIL does not have cancer. She had some major surgery and has some serious medical issues that still need to be addressed but the news is much better than first thought.

My Dad's PET scan was completely negative. It does not appear that the tumor on his pancreas has spread in any way. And that tumor is shrinking with chemo. We still don't know what the spots on his lung are (from his recent X-ray) but he will be having a bronchoscopy in week or so, and if that's not definitive, then a needle biopsy. So not out of the woods, but again, much better than expected.

So really, I got Everything I wanted for Christmas.....with just a little exception.

One Sick Meowmy - The Bad
The long weekend started out with such great promise. I had Friday off and got all my normal weekend chores out of the way. Saturday went to see "The King's Speech" and had dinner with friends. I highly recommend the movie - everyone in it is fantastic.

Then I went home just in time to watch the exciting Doctor. Who Christmas Special and...got spectacularly sick. Sick like you wouldn't believe. Sick, like I couldn't watch the show. I did catch the first 20 minutes or so but after that - let's just say I was otherwise occupied.

So I've spent the last 24 hours either in bed, laying on the couch, sleeping and feeling miserable. I was able to take care of the cats, and did get on the Internet for a bit this morning, but almost all other plans went out the window. Did manage to finish my read through of Ianto's Journey and its all formatted for PDF- and once i get back to work I'll have the software to make a PDF. I'll let you know when its ready and where its posted.

The Furry
The kitties have been soo good. All I've been able to do is feed them and clean their box a couple of times. No energy for playing catch or feather chase or any of the other games they like. And I haven't had the energy to put together the Climb and Scratch Toy (two activities they certainly excel at) that Santy Claws left earlier this weekl.

They've snuggled and cuddled and head bumped and purred and napped and given kitty kissies and lickies to me the whole time. No whining, no fighting.....are these my cats?  They've been sooo good.

Yeah its late, and I'm up (having slept about 18 out of the last 24 hours) and I'm still tired. So going back to bed - hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas.

You guys are too much! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all your votes for my stories. I honestly didn't think I would win in any category considering the awesomeness of the other writers nominated. So when I went to look at the results - I was stunned to see my BIG story - Ianto's Journey listed first - as winner in the Romance Category.

And then I looked down and saw that I had won a second award for New Year's Eve, 2050 in the Angst Category.

So then I decided to burst out crying at work because I figured that would enhance my potential for a promotion.

And I'm so glad to see many of my favorite writers and their stories winning including:

[info]remuslives23 for Imperfect Promises & Game On

[info]choccy_grl
for Blood and Roses & Still Waters Run Deep

[info]mercury_pheonix
for Bandaging Wounds & Served Cold

[info]temporal_witch
for Cunning Linguist

[info]moonfirefic
  for Codename:Victory

[info]scifiangel  for Ceremonies and Commitments

blucougar57 for Ashes and Dust

[info]angstosaur for Bad Seed

[info]frakkin_addict for That's What Time Travel is For, Right?

CJharknessgirl for Torchwood Harbour Artwork

A complete list of winners is here:  http://cota.worldsoutthere.com/r6win.htm#tw

I have to admit that there are several winning stories that I haven't read - so I have my reading set for the next few evenings.

Congratulations to all the winners listed/not listed here. And if I missed anyone on my flist - please forgive, I'm truly stunned.

A number of readers expressed interest in additional stories from the au of Ianto's Journey. I've written a few for Schmoop Bingo and it looks like some of you (ok at least one person) didn't realize that these stories were from the IJ verse. (I received a PM saying, 'hey, are you ever going to write anything else about your IJ characters?').

So...here are the Schmoop Bingo stories that are part of the world created in Ianto's Journey:

http://aviv-b.livejournal.com/63195.html

Schmoop:  Love Letter
Title: Five Love Letters Lost and One that Was Found
Words: 1545
Warnings:  A sad schmoopy story. Kleenex may be required.
Rating: G/PG
Characters:  Jack/Ianto, Ianto/Aaron
Summary:
These letters parallel the story told in Ianto's Journey. (http://aviv-b.livejournal.com/62157.html#cutid1)  While it contains significant spoilers for Ianto's Journey, the story can read without knowledge of this story. Everything you need to know is in the letters. And if you plan on reading IJ some day, I don't think this will ruin the experience for you.

http://aviv-b.livejournal.com/63877.html
Schmoop:  Honeymoon
Title: Honeymoon In Paris
Words: 1880
Rating: G/PG
Characters:  Owen/Tosh
Summary:  Pretty much what it says on the box - a sweet story about Owen & Tosh's honeymoon in Paris.

Who Let the Dogs Out?
Schmoop: Pets (Wild Card pick) - Chapter 1, Lazy Sunday - Chapter 2.
Ratings: Prologue & Chapter 1 rated G/PG, Chapter 2, PG-13/R
Characters:  Aaron/Ianto, Owen, Jack
Summary: Aaron and Ianto's lives have gone to the dogs.
Prologue: In the Dog House:  http://aviv-b.livejournal.com/64338.html
Chapter 1: Heavy Petting:
http://aviv-b.livejournal.com/64626.html
Chapter 2:  The Dog Days of Summer:

http://aviv-b.livejournal.com/62237.html
Schmoop:  Spooning
Title: Hart & Soul
Words: 1890
Rating: R/NC-17
Characters:  Ianto/OCC, Team Torchwood
Summary: When Jack leaves with the Doctor, Ianto finds comfort from an unexpected source. A Ianto's Journey 'Turn Left' Story.

And Psst...Ianto's Journey has been nominated for several Chilcren of Time Awards (Romance, Hurt/Comfort and Slash). Voting is open through September 25th. Summary: Aaron and Ianto's lives have gone to the dogs.

A Ianto’s Journey verse story in two parts (and a Prologue)

What you need to know – After Jack leaves with the Doctor, Ianto moves back to London to help with the rebuilding of Torchwood One. He meets Aaron Hamilton, a Lieutenant Colonel in the Royal Marines. They become lovers and later partners. They both have empathic abilities (and are both a bit over the top with things being orderly). Jack returns to Earth two years later and ends up the head of Torchwood One.

Other info that will help to understand the story - Ianto uses a voice synthesizer app on his cell phone to communicate since his voice was damaged during the battle of Canary Wharf. Aaron’s father is a Brigadier at UNIT (who was in charge of the cleanup at Canary Wharf) and his mother was an Israeli intelligence officer working for UNIT early in her career.

Everything else is explained within this story.
