Not at all -- open to every creature on the planet -- just get in touch with the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, -- my contact for all things wonderfully travelly is Michelle Baker, (702) 895-3254. If it's not off the press yet, it soon will be, so ask for a copy of the fall catalogue -- it'll have all the fall trips, plus info on bigger ones coming up in the spring & summer. If there's something you really want, don't hesitate to send in the deposit because space is very limited on some of them simply due to logistics. You can always back out with your full deposit (just watch the dates) if you change your mind. I've noticed that the trips I've gone on all involve the Native American community in some form -- both the lodges we stayed at were owned & run by tribes, the land we were on needed special permission from tribal councils to walk on -- we're sucky white men and God knows what we'll steal from them next--

I'm so sorry, but my family has been on this side of the pond since 1660, and I am ashamed at what the white race has done in the same of religion, but more often than not in greed. I'm also proud to say that my family's history has been well documented, and I can honestly say we were some of the good guys along the way. I'm very proud of that. One of my forebears was in Brigham Young's inner circle, and as such had more than one wife; one of them was a young Ute indian maiden, and even tho by now the blood is quite thinned out, to see my grandfather when he was a young man, say late teens to early twentys (no, I wasn't there, but I've seen the pictures. Another love my family had was the camera -- every model ever made was owned at one time or another by an ancestor used to death!!, so I've seen the pix) anyway, you could most definitely still see the Ute blood in him, but as he grew older, it faded away. There were times when my youngest brother had the passing resemblence as he approached his 30s, but there's nothing to be seen in his son or grandkids, and neither my youngest sister nor I had kids of our own -- we're a blended family of 7 -- three from one and four from another, except now that 4 is down to 2)

So anyway, please make contact with Michelle -- she's the nicest woman -- I've known her for about 20 yrs now, ever since she started working there before I moved on to a different career.

You'll love these trips -- they are always educational in one form or another, but nothing in your face, take notes, there's a test later!!!
