Gosh, I'm pretty sure it isn't you. Sony readers sometimes mess up PDF when you magnify them,(it is actually a warning in the instructions.) I have to magnify due to impending middle age and an optician who refuses to give me bifocals. My brain has actually adjusted quite well, and I am always pleased to develop a new neural pathway instead of destroying them with alcohol and chocolate. Now where did I put that Martini..... Have you had the latest Dr Who in the states yet? Good fun!
