Real Life Sucks - a little anyway

Been a tough couple of weeks. Work is a little overwhelming - not impossible, but a lot to do in too little time. And I found out my thyroid has once again decided that it doesn't want to work which is probably why I've been feeling so sluggish. I'm not a terribly high energy person to begin with but basic life activities have felt like such a chore recently.
The good news is that once we increase the synthroid I will be so buzzed for a few weeks that I'll be washing floors at 3 AM ( well that's what happened last time, anyway).
Over the weekend I actually turned on my cooktop. Doesn't happen very often cause anything that needs to be warmed up just goes into the microwave. So....I heat up some soup. Turn the stove off, move the pot over and go into the living room to eat. Come back to see Teddy dancing around the soup pot. Yell loudly cause I just know he's going to step on the still hot burner. And this is when my BFF's words come back to haunt me. "Don't worry," she says, "he won't step on a hot burner". And right she is. He managed to dance around the still hot area (its a glass cooktop so there's nothing to indicate that part of it's hot) to get to the soup. Unfortunately, as I reached across the top to pick him up, I managed to make contact with the hot part with my forearm. OUCH! After much cursing and running under cold water it didn't look too bad. Next day, a big blister appeared. Three days later it throbs and it itches (that may be the tape I'm using to secure the gauze over it) and is generally making me nuts. And Teddy, he's asleep on my lap at the moment. Ungrateful little brat cat.
I got caught in the Chicago tsunami yesterday - stepped off the bus as the rain went from heavy to totally freaken, the world is going to end, take that hoomans, build an ark, heavy. So there I am caught in the middle of the street, can't get across because traffic is stopped and a giant double CTA bus is blocking the crosswalk. When I finally make it across I am soaked literally from head to toe. Shoes and socks are sopping, the rain has managed to soak through my coat so my shirt is wet in the back, my pants are waterlogged up to my knees. And my office is its usual arctic climate zone. By the end of work, I wasn't feeling to good. Home today with a sore throat and a stuffed up head.
And no I haven't written anything. Five schmoop bingo prompts left and I got nothing. Sigh, where did all my little plot bunnies hop off to?
As for my goal to write reviews for plays - haven't done that all summer and I'm so far behind I'll never catch up. So to ease my conscience and move forward on that, I'm putting up very short reviews of everything I've seen since late June. But that will be in a second post to follow.
